This little cutie is from a tutorial by Karen Campbell for Awesome Art School. I couldn't wait to draw Rainbow Widdle Woman! I finished working on Rainbow, the morning Karen's book arrived!
I enjoyed drawing Rainbow from the lessons. Painting her with both Prima and Jane Davenport paints was great fun. I drew her with a Graphgear 1000 Pentel Pencil and added shadow with a Blackwing - Matte pencil and blending stump for shading.
Rainbow is outlined in Molotow Blackliner and small colorful detail was added with Master's Touch Fineline Markers. I used a Gelly Roll Pen for highlights. I used Fabriano Hot Press 90 lb. watercolor paper, which I had bought by mistake. It was ok as I was careful to use a limited amount of water. Normally, I use 140 lb. watercolor paper.
I'm very happy that Rainbow came out so well. I am anxious to begin the girls in Karen's new book, Whimsical Watercolor and How to Draw Series Widdle Women Edition Book 1!
