Cosmic Fox

I loved working on this Cosmic Fox from a tutorial by Tamara Laporte. She is also the host of Mastering the Mixed Media event.

I would have liked to try drawing this great image, following Tam's direction, but I wanted to get right to the painting of this wonderful animal. So I used the traceable provided.

I used my light pad to transfer the images onto Fabriano hot press watercolor paper (140 lb.) and I used Wnsor and Newton and Prima Paletts to paint it. Instead of heavy body white acrylics, I used white gouache but I did use acrylic ink in white. Colored pencils, a black Stabilo All Pencil and a blending stump worked to bring out shadows. Posca Pens in black and white helped with details.

This piece took the entire day, but was so worth the time!
