Farm Boy Mixed Media

 

After I won a contest at Plum Loved Art, I chose the "Andy Boys" file on Etsy. This is my second adorable little boy file, that I have worked on. This cute boy is #20 out of 27 in the set. I used the digital image for my reference.

 I drew this boy first using my Graphgear Pencil on Fabriano 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper. After drawing the boy, I put in the farm foreground. I outlined the composition with fineliners (not water-soluble). I painted this cutie first using Prima, Jane Davenport. 

 I began painting the grass. After the grass was dry I used clear water for the sky around the tree, barn and fence. I  followed that by painting a light wash of blue with Jane Davenport Watercolors. I used Jane Davenport Watercolors to paint the tree and barn and also Arteza, yellow Ochre gouache for the hey under this cutie! I added some detail with fineline pens and I white gell pen.

I so love how this piece came out!
