This Sorceress is from a tutorial by Karen Campbell for Awesome Art School. I've been wanting to work on this piece for a long time, but I didn't because of the many changes of alcohol markers and I felt my Copics were too old. When I got my new Ohuhu Skin Tones it was time to give it a try! I transferred the original on to my new Ohuhu Marker Pad using my light pad, with a Graphgear Pentel Pencil. I went over those lines with black Molotow Fineliners.
Before I got started, I put the skin tones I would use aside trying to go as close to Karen's selection as I could. As I got started I did notice how juicy these are. I had to be careful when I did the layers of color, not touch the darkest colors. They didn't dry as fast as the others. A couple of spots did bleed. When I got to her hooded cape, I tried to use Karen's colors from my Copics. Eventually I chose one dark purple to color the cape. I added the second color over that showing the inside depth.
I gave the piece time to dry and added gold earrings with a Posca Pen. I used a Pentel Arts Pocket Pen for eye make-up and a Gelly Roll Pen for the white highlights.
I'm really happy with how this piece came out on the first page of my new marker book!
