This is an Evil Fairy Witch Enchantress from tutorials by Karen Campbell for Awesome Art School. The image was broken up into two tutorials. The first was how to draw and shade using graphite. I used a Blackwing Matte pencil. I smudged the pencil with a blending stump for shading. After doing the first portion with graphite, the second tutorial instructed how to use watercolor directly over the graphite. I used Prima watercolors.
I added more details with a Molotow Blackliner. I used a Gelly Roll Pen for the highlights. I used a Kuretake Gem Color set to fill in the gold jewelry.
The red background was done with salt over wet Prima red watercolors.
I chose to work on this image, to learn about watercolor over graphite. It has a very nice almost vintage look!
