Simple Portrait in Watercolor

When I saw this project at Let's Make Art a tutorial by Sarah Cray, I had to give it a try.

I transferred the outline provided to my Canson 140lb. cold press watercolor paper, using my light box. I covered the lines in the portrait with Daniel Smith Artist Masking Fluid (it comes with several applicator tips). After the fluid dried I applied Winsor Newton Cotman tube watercolor washes to the paper. When the paint was dry, I used a Grafix Rubber Cement Pick-up and my fingers to remove the fluid. The hardest part of the project was taking the fluid off without ripping the paper. I covered the face and added a bit of spatter watercolors for texture. I did a bit of touching up with the watercolor wash, but really like the results.
