Child "Wonder" in Watercolor

I so enjoyed working on this young girl from a drawing by Cameron Mark. He's a wonderful illustrator and character artist. Karen Campbell taught this tutorial for Awesome Art School.

I drew this sweetie using a Graphgear 1000 Pentel pencil in my Canson XL 140 lb. watercolor book and painted her with Prima watercolors.  At first I thought of my granddaughter. Maybe the painting would turn out to be her. I loved painting the hair which came out beautiful, but it doesn't match my granddaughter's hair. Although the grey/green eyes, pink shirt and pink and purple tennis shoes do remind me of my beautiful granddaughter.

A few markers have enhanced the watercolor. These are Molotow Blackliners, Master's Touch Fineliners and Artists Loft Permanent Markers. I used gouache for the white highlights in the girl's eyes and a bit of Gansai Tambi Gem Colors to decorate her tennis shoes.

What a delightful little girl!
