This enchanting Dragon is a mixed media tutorial by Lucy Brydon for Awesome Art School in the Mythical Creatures classroom of the Celtic Collective.
I used a limited palette of Jane Davenport watercolors, on Canson 140 lb. cold press paper. I used a Molotow Blackliner pen and a Gelly Roll for the outlines and additional details. The gold detail was done with a Marvy Opaque Metallic Marker.
I didn't completely follow Lucy after drawing and transferring my sketch to the watercolor paper. Instead of using a wet brush to dot the dragon with water over the watercolor, I blended the colors on the wings. I loved playing with the colors and adding marker detail. I love the pink tail, which was also on Lucy's tutorial. It was a great tutorial, I loved testing my drawing skills with this piece.
