Three Girls Mixed Media

I'm really excited to show you this latest project. I recently took part in some online mixed media workshops and I was blown away by the participating artists' creativity. I do plan to display my work done on those, at some point. Doing them lead me to look into more artists and I found Jane Davenport's books and art supplies.

While I've been enjoying my journey through landscape watercolors, I am always on the look out for new techniques and fun! Now I own three Jane Davenport books and a delightful pad of faces and more!

This pad has multiple copies of faces and a page with three girls, all on mixed media paper. I saved those pages and instead transferred the images to my watercolor paper. The pad is called "I Came, I Saw, I contoured" and  teaches you to color and shade. I loved and learned some techniques using my watercolor paints on two faces so far, but then I found the page with the three girls! Here's what I did.

I transferred the design on to watercolor paper with my light pad and drew over the pencil lines with a Micron 01 pen.  I traced the girls again with tracing paper to make a mask and covered the girls while I sprayed Dylusions Ink Spray around the girls. I let it dry.

I painted the girls using Winsor Newton Cotman tube watercolors and traced the girls again in the areas that will be covered by dresses. I transferred the guide lines again onto some Gelli Prints I made in the past. I cute out the dresses and adhered them to the girls. I used the Micron pen to add details and additional outlines.

What a fun project this turned out to be. I'm so happy to have added another stop on my art journey!
