Grandma's
Story Starter Books
I am a grandma
to two of the most adorable kids. I will try anything in my power to
keep them and my family safe and happy. As a retired art teacher I
enjoy paper crafting. I have made several paper pieced books from
chipboard. Originally these were just pretty pictures unrelated to
each other, but then I realized there could be a use for them.
The older
child, my grandson has been diagnosed in the Autism Spectrum
disorder. The child is very bright, doing well in virtual school at
home using the computer. He reads aloud with expression, while
enjoying reading to his little sister. Because he lacks communication
skills and doesn't speak much his comprehension is in question.
Each page of my
little books could be a way to draw out the imagination of this type
of child, getting him to speak about what he thinks is going on in
the page. This child could gain the confidence he might lack.
