Samhain Raven in Gouache

This Samhain Raven tutorial by Lucy Brydon for Awesome Art School has been a real challenge to my drawing skill. I drew the bird on my Arteza Gouache Pad, but just could not get its head right. I finally consulted with my husband Sandy (a bird enthusiast) and in a minute later he fixed my problem!

I drew the Raven using my Graphgear 1000 mechanical pencil, along with a compass to make the golden circle. I panted the picture using Holbein and Winsor Newton gouache. The golden circle was painted with Kuretake Gem Colors.

I'm really proud of this piece!

  3. An awesome drawing. I love how you've played with the dark and grey tones and the contrast they create with the golden and orange ones. Thanks for joining us at A Place To Start. Hugs, María.
