I hadn't worked in gouache much and tried to use the tubes of this medium that I have, plus a couple of others I bought. These fairies needed new colorful hair styles and I need the gouache practice. I tried to give them lovely faces.
This is from a beginner gouache tutorial by Karen Campbell for Awesome Art School. The tutorial was about learning to design hair and I added the faces for additional practice.
The fairies ware painted on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. I used Winsor Newton and Holbein Arts' gouache. For the black lines, I used a Pentel Pocket Brush and Molotow Blackliner. For the white highlights I used a gelly roll pen.
This was a fun practice and I hope to learn to work with the gouache a bit better in the future!
