Small Pieces Big Picture Mini Page

For this min page, I sprayed Ranger Distress Oxide over a stencil on a vintage newspaper page. After it dried, I cute floral shapes with my Cuddlebug Machine, adhered them to the page and added a statement sticker from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small Talk.

I'm looking forward to seeing your art on the challenge at Crafting From the Heart!

That Whimsical 3/4 Face

This charming girl is the result of following Karen Campbell's tutorial for Awesome Art School. She is the Whimsical 3/4 Face, Video 7 in #100funfabfaces challenge. I added my favorite hat, a black beret.

The tutorial taught drawing the lovely image and painting with watercolors with the addition of Micon Pens and a white Gell Pen, along with Prismacolor Pencils. I used Jane Davenport watercolors on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

I enjoy being enrolled in the Awesome Art School, there is always something more to learn!

Regency Elegance in Mixed Media

I've enjoyed a week of wonderful art projects in the Kaleidoscope Taster Week. I couldn't wait to get to work on Tamara Leporte's tutorial Regency Elegance a mixed media portrait.

Although I didn't have some of the supplies, my Jane Davenport watercolors and a couple of pens and markers did the trick on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

The week was full of wonderful tutorials. I looked forward to beginning on them. I love to work on Tamara Leporte's tutorials so much, with so much to learn!

Birds of Paradise

This lovely Birds of Paradise flower is from a tutorial by Sarah Cray for Let's Make Art.

I transferred the outline of the flower onto my Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper,  using my light pad. I painted this flower using Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes. I'm surprised how easy this lovely flower was to paint!

Poppies in Mixed Media

This mixed media Poppies painting is from a tutorial by Tamara Laporte for the Kaleidoscope 2023. It was a fun and challenging piece to work on, but I'm so happy with it!

I used Jane Davenport watercolors and a variety of markers, pencils and pens, on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

Blue Fairy Mixed Media

I've been working steadily at Awesome Art School, improving my skills and totally enjoying learning new things.

This tutorial is by Karen Campbell. I drew the fairy with my Pentel Mechanical pencil and went over my lines with a Faber-Castell watercolor pencil. I followed that with a wet brush and let that dry. I used the same watercolor pencil and made improvements to my lines, adding shading. I used the wet brush where I wanted to blend.

When the piece was dry, I used a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen for details and a Gelly Roll pen for a bit of highlites. I used a different color watercolor pencil for the detail on her forehead.

The Mousehole Gift Shop

This watercolor line and wash is from a tutorial by Paul Clark. The gift shop is in Cornwall, UK. If you look it up you will find it's pronunciation differently than you would expect!

I transferred the outline onto my Arches cold press watercolor block using a sheet of graphite paper. The line and details were done using a Micron pen. Before I painted this scene, I covered the wording on the building with Miskit Frisket by Grumbacker. I painted with Winsor Newton Cotman tube colors and added highlights with Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White.

I enjoy painting with line and wash and using old English scenes is wonderful to work on.
