Blue Tit Painting

This is a "Blue Tit," found in the UK. My painting is from a tutorial by Paul Clark. I transferred the template provided by the artist onto my Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper, using my light box.

I painted the  bird using Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes. I enhanced the painting using a white General's Pastel Chalk Pencil and a blade to scrape some highlights into the paper for the feathers.

This painting was definitely a challenge, but I am very happy with it!

St. Augstine Inn

My husband and I used to spend time just walking around St. Augustine. It's such a beautiful town. Of course that was before the pandemic. Now we hardly leave the house. We are fortunate that our family is nearby and we do spend time with them.

During those walks my husband Sandy took lots and lots of pictures! This painting of the St. Augustine Inn is one of those. I used several techniques I learned from tutorials by Paul Clark.

I changed the photo into a line drawing and placed it on my light box. I traced the drawing onto watercolor paper. I followed that with a Micron 03 pen over the pencil lines.

I painted the drawing with Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes onto Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

Of all the painting I have done in the past year, this is the one I really loved from the beginning.

Tenting Today Landscape

This mini painting Landscape is from a Let's Make Art Matter tutorial by Sarah Cray for Let's Make Art. It was a great mini lesson from June of 2020.

This painting is on a 4x6" Winsor Newton watercolor cold press postcard. I used Winsor Newton Cotman tube colors.

I've been enjoying the limited color palette and the smaller work space. It's an enjoyable challenge.

Coastal Line and Wash

Darren Yeo is an artist living in Melbourne, Australia. He is the "Watercolour Mentor" and gives a great variety of tutorials on "Youtube". You can find this artist here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/watercolourbeginners

I instantly fell in love with his style. His coastal buildings on the water attracted me right away. They are the basis for this painting.

I sketched out my version of this image and placed it on my watercolor paper (Canson 140 lb. cold press) using my light box. I went over my lines using a Micron 01 pen and painted this colorful painting using Winsor Newton Cotman tube watercolor paints. I enhanced the painting using General's Pastel Chalk Pencils.

Beach Hut Watercolor Painting

This "Beach Hut," painting reminds me of the many summer days spent at the beaches in Long Island, New York. It's a tutorial by artist Paul Clark.

I used my light box with the template provided to transfer the line drawing to my Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

I really enjoy Clark's tutorials and learn a lot of new techniques in each one. I learned to not only blend my Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes, but also use Pastel Chalk Pencils and a few other tricks to make this painting as realistic as possible.

Perfume Bottle Watercolor

This perfume bottle is from a recent tutorial by Sarah Cray for Let's Make Art.

After printing the lesson's traceable image, I put it on my light box and traced the image using a watercolor pencil, onto Canson watercolor paper.

I painted the bottle using Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes. I enhanced the image with a gold metallic Gelly Roll pen.

Under the Sea Watercolor

After practicing individual images from various books and tutorial, I designed a painting combining them. The turtle is from Pinterest, the clown fish, treasure chest and coral are from Dana Fox's, "Watercolor With Me, in the Ocean."

I transferred each image onto Arches Watercolor paper with a light box. Before I painted the images I used Daniel Smith Artist Masking Fluid to protect the images from the blue paint.

I painted with Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor tubes.
