For months I've been enjoying the tutorials at Awesome Art School, My drawing got better and I learned to use new media, as well as techniques.
I decided to use the Presidents' weekend to get back into some watercolor painting. I found a tutorial by Sarah Cray at Let's Make Art, that I knew I had to try. She used The Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso to give a bit of art history lesson, as well as painting a monochrome color painting.
The Old Guitarist was created during Picasso's Blue Period. His focus was on feelings of loneliness and sorrow. He repeated and varied the blues, which created unity in his work.
I painted this piece on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper, with Jane Davenport watercolors.
This was a challenging, but fun piece to paint. I'm glad I devoted some time to get back into watercolor painting.
