Steps in Line (Pencil) and Wash

This piece is from a tutorial by Paul Clark, who provided the outline drawing. Unlike regular line and wash paintings done in ink and watercolor, this one is pencil and watercolor. I used graphite paper to place the outline onto an Arches 8x10 140 lb. cold press watercolor block. Instead of going over my lines with ink or black marker, I used a number 2 pencil!

I painted this piece with Winsor Newton Cotman tube watercolors and added some brightness with Holbein artist white gouache.
